Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction

East Greenbush Central School District is accepting applications for an Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.

POSITION TITLE:  Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction

ASSIGNMENT:  Central Administration, 12 Month Position

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement an effective district-wide process for curriculum review and development to ensure horizontal and vertical alignment consistent with best practices; maintain compliance with all state/federal requirements, board of education policy and any applicable terms and conditions of existing employment contracts related to curriculum development;
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of the work of the New York State Blue Ribbon Commission on Graduation Measures. Have the ability to lead and collaborate on pending changes that will allow for the District to be best prepared for the changes for graduation outcomes and adoption of the New York State Portrait of a Graduate;
  • Develop and implement a cyclical schedule for the revision of curriculum and the adoption of new instructional resources with input from the Committee for Curriculum Studies;
  • Ensure consistent coordination of assessment practices within the district including the use of locally developed, third party and NYS required tests;
  • Design and implement an effective shared decision making process to ensure stakeholder investment in any proposed curricular, instructional or assessment practices;
  • Lead the development of a comprehensive program of professional development for all instructional and non-instructional staff;
  • Design and implement a system for effective use of student data to inform decisions at the district, building and school level;
  • Maintain a working understanding of teacher and administrator certification. Be able to assist Principals in planning accordingly for teacher assignments and creative use of teacher talents and skills to meet diverse learning needs;
  • Serve as a member of the Superintendent’s administrative cabinet making recommendations for strategic planning including district and board goals, objectives and indicators of success;
  • Oversee the district’s state and federal compliance and reporting requirements related to compliance with the NYS Testing Program, Title 1, Part 154 ENL students, Technology and Academic Intervention Services;
  • Oversee the district’s coordination of the Universal Pre-K Program
  • Oversee the Principal of any summer school programs including ESY;
  • Supervise the Director of Technology, Director of Pupil Personnel Services, Director of Athletics, Physical Education & Health, and the district’s Data Coordinator;
  • Direct and guide the development of all district curriculum projects;
  • Coordinate meetings with Principals, Department Chairs and Grade and Level/Content Area Coordinators to ensure consistency of curriculum implementation and to determine support needs of teachers;
  • Provide recommendations for the purchase of new instructional materials including textbooks, supplemental resources, educational software and web-based tools;
  • Serve as Administrator in charge of the district in the absence of the Superintendent of Schools;
  • Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
$175,000 - $185,000
